So, today I went on my friends page and was SHOCKED to discover that no every single post was about TDK. I mean, I had some wincest, kurofai, and Harry/Draco in there. It confused me. Does everyone not share my immense and immediate fangirlish love of TDK? I conned my friend into going to see it tonight, so that'll be three times for me and [livejournal.com profile] siriuslyyellow. We're trying to get into IMAX at some point, not tonight, obviously. And I've also conned [livejournal.com profile] sizijee into coming with us next weekend! YAY!! <3

It's my new, and probably short-term, goal to spread Batman/Joker love around the world. <3

EDIT: OMG. Check this out. The Dark Knight is listed as the number 1 movie of all time in the IMDB's database, the fan-rated version. The top number 1 place was a tie between The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption, both of wich scored a 9.1. TDK has an average rating of 9.4. Holy shit. I'm assuming it will go down as the malcontents pour in and rate it, you know, 1 and so on, but still. What an amazing feat for a movie that's been out for, like, five days. <3

I've still only managed to see it once. *weep* I'm bound and determined to see it again tomorrow, though, and I've already got IMAX tickets for Sunday (BEST. BIRTHDAY PRESENT. EVER. Even if I did buy the tickets myself. xD).

The IMDB thing amazes me. Especially considering The Godfather had previously held the #1 spot since the late 1990's, and Dark Knight bumped it down IN ONE DAY. I'm so proud of that film. ♥

Yeah, I'm taking, like, a break from it for a week. The crowd I had last night sucked ass. Seriously, there were drunk people in the corner who kept on knocking over glass bottles, just to piss everyone else off. And these guys kept talking loudly behind me. So it sucked.

Yeah, I'm shocked about it. But I do honestly think it will go down once people who didn't like it start voting. Right now, I think all the fans are voting like mad. :P Although, it would be awesome for it to stay at number 1--I think it's the best movie I've ever seen. <3

Aw, that sucks. The crowd I saw it with on opening night was just fantastic. I love seeing movies with great audiences like that; it makes it more enjoyable in a way, because of the energy you can feel, to me at least. The one I saw it with today was okay; smaller, because it was a 3:30 showing, which was kind of "meh". I very nearly snapped at this kid sitting a seat away from me, as he kept texting on his cell phone every now and then. >______O Jackass.

Yeah, you know the haters are going to start showing up and voting it a 1 or something just to spite people (ugh, juvenile). I do hope it at least stays well up there. And I agree with you, I do think it's the best film I've ever seen. Nothing else has ever managed to grab me the way that film has. It was astounding.

OMG--I actually HAVE gone up to people in theaters before, actually walked up to them in the middle of the movie, and told them to turn off their phones b/c it's distracting everyone else from the movie. :P

Actually, true story, for opening weekend of Spiderman 3, I was at this really shitty theater, and this guy's phone started ringing. So, he actually answers it! He says, "Hey, what's going on?... Nothing much... Yeah, I'm just watching a movie." Talking at normal volume, completely able to be heard over the film, and this was during a scene with Harry, which amde everything ten trillion times worse. So, I scream, so loud my throat hurts, "GET OFF THE PHONE!!" Then, there's utter silence in the theater for about three seconds before the guy says, "I'm gonna have to call you back." Then he hung up and no one made any more noise for the rest of the movie. Imagine that. :P

Well, TDK is still at #1 and it's got another 25,000-ish votes. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

And my friend who I went to see it with for this awful crowd (it was my third time seeing TDK but her first) ended up saying she hated the movie. I was like, uh, you're on crack cocaine. She said that all the people on their cell phones and getting up and down was the sign that a movie sucks. I was like, NO, it's a sign that the CROWD sucks. -_-;;

OMG, YOU ARE MY HERO.

Uuuugh, I can't stand it when people are so rude and inconsiderate like that. Seriously, were they raised in a barn or something? It's ridiculous.

And agreed that your friend is on crack. And not the good kind. D: Seriously, the fact that so many people were on cell phones and whatnot just shows how little manners/common courtesy they have.

I swear, if there's anyone on their phone or texting when I go see it in IMAX this Sunday, I will pitch an absolute fit. Same goes for the rest of the repeat viewings that will be happening. >8|

YAYZ!! I AM A HERO!!

Yeah, I don't get it either. I think some people just shouldn't be let out of their houses. Let's just keep 'em all chained up in the basement, m'kay?

Yeah, I know. I was like, this audience just sucks. The movie rocks, and the fact that these people are being so rude and inconsiderate of the other audience members blows ass. I was atcually talking to [livejournal.com profile] siriuslyyellow about this, and we agreed that a large part of the movie's awesomeness is the slow build up of tension. Like, the Joker's ominous presence in every scene, and the audience on tenterhooks waiting to see what he'll do next. So, we figure that because of the audience's interruptions, my friend couldn't get the full effect of that dramatic tension, and that could be why she didn't like it. Well, it's a thought anyway.

I'm going to see it in IMAX (hopefully, if I can get tickets--otherwise just regularly) this weekend with [livejournal.com profile] siriuslyyellow and [livejournal.com profile] sizijee. [livejournal.com profile] sizijee hasn't seen it yet, but she's into the hot crazy guys, so I'm hoping for a better reaction from this friend than the last one I brought. :P

It's very difficult talking to that friend right now. I'm all like, OMG TDK was so amazing and the Joker is unbelievably sezzeh!! She's all like, OMG that movie sucked ass. So, you know, avoidance of the topic is key. :P

No. You're not a hero... YOU'RE A DARK KNIGHT.

Seriously. And we can let Mr. J do little experiments on them and whatnot. That oughta teach them some manners.

Oooh, true. I remember reading in several reviews that the Joker is a lot like the shark in Jaws; you're just as aware of his presence when he's offscreen as when he actually is, and that makes the build up so much better. And a lot of audience members are just so stupid used to being spoon-fed everything, and having every single detail laid out in front of them that they're incapable of getting the full effect of it.

Eeee, I'm seeing it in IMAX in a few hours. SOEXCITED.

Oh, I hear you. I keep wanting to gush about it, but whenever I'm at home, my mom's about the only one around, and she doesn't want to hear it. xD I CAN'T HOLD IN MY FANNISH GLEE, THOUGH.

I'M NOT THE HERO GOTHAM DESERVES, BUT THE HERO IT NEEDS.

Yeah, I think that people today are more idiotic than they've ever been before. So, you know, they don't understand dramatic tension at all. If they're not told "The Joker's around and he's scary and going to fuck you up", they just don't get it. Which sucks. I blame television--it's dumbed people down to the level of toads.

OMG, I'm trying to see it in IMAX. SO JEALOUS!! XD How was it, how was it?!

That's where there's the internet. YOU CAN LET OUT YOUR FANGIRLISH GLEE HERE!!!!!!! :D

*CUE AWESOME HANS ZIMMER SOUNDTRACK*

Ugh, seriously. Most of the crap on TV today is just that, crap. Even the cartoons, man! And all the shows that are popular with people in my age range, I just don't understand the interest in. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON REALITY TV. >_O
I think horror movies nowadays are perfect examples of what you mentioned. All the things like Saw, Hostel, and etc. just spoon-fed out the gore and whatnot, and it just screams "HEY, THIS IS SCARY, BE AFRAID!" To be honest, those don't scare me at all, they just gross me out. Films with atmosphere, though, that really play with the ambience, though, freak me the hell out. To me, it's not what you see, but what you think you might see that terrifies me.

OMG, IMAX WAS AWESOME. I wish I could've gotten there earlier to get better seats (second row at the bottom, man xD), but it was still just amazing.

YAAAAY, INTERNET. Which makes me realize, I've still yet to make a mandatory post-movie review post. This must be rectified!

It's funny, movies like Saw and Hostel bore me. I mean, I like the gore, I'm a fan of violence and whatnot, but there's nothing scary about it, really. It's not threatening to you as a person--not the way the Joker felt threatening.

OMG I HAET U. IMAX WILL BE AWESUM 4 ME, 2!!1!

And movie reviews are awesome. And I will read at some later date. :P

Ditto. It's just gross, not intimidating or anything. As much as I adore the character, though, the Joker scares the hell out of me on several levels. He creeped me out well more than anything in any "horror" film I've scene recently. Atmosphere > gratuitous gore, in my opinion. :B

OMG, I H8 U BAKC 4 IMAX BEIN AWSUM 4!!!11!

...I think I just murdered a few brain cells typing that.

Yeah, like we discussed before, and that excellent example you brought up about the Joker and Jaws, when there's some dangerous being lurking around, being threatening, you actually can feel terror. It's your imagination that gets you, in the end.

LOL, yes, I'm so looking forward to seeing TDK in IMAX that I can barely stand it. *is OMG excited*

Mm-hm. Reminds me a lot of Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal. He was only on screen in Silence of the Lambs for all of 16 minutes, but you were always so aware of his presence throughout the film. Heath did the same for the Joker. :)

Just make sure you go a bit early to get some of the higher up seats. Believe me, it makes a difference. xD

OMG, you're right, Hannibal wasn't on screen all that much, I never realized that until you just said so now.

I got to the movie three hours early my first two times seeing it, and two and a hlf hours early mu third. Getting there early is no problem for me. :D

Mm-hm. And he got as Oscar for it. Shows you the power of amazing acting and atmosphere right there.

I so need to see it again sometime this week. I've only seen it three times so far, and that's totally not enough. xD
