So, I love this series now. I've discovered the joy of renting manga from the library--I've gotten through so much manga recently, it's crazy. And it's free, which rocks, b/c at $10 a pop manga is killer to my wallet. :(
So, Arina Tanemura has always been one of those love and hate authors to me. I mean, her art is beautiful, and her stories are very fangirly shoujo fun, but she's never done yaoi or yuri, and there's only so much het I can take from one author, okay? But Shinshi Doumei Cross is Tanemura-san's attempt at breaking all of her taboos. And let me tell you, I should have listened to Rei when she first told me that it rocked. B/c it so does. I stayed up all night long, until 7 AM, and I would have stayed up longer except I didn't have volume 8. So bah to that.
I love Maora like whoa. And Maguri/Maora is totally a new OTP for me. Even though Tanemura said that she thinks she doesn't take gay characters seriously b/c she's not like a usual yaoi author, that's what I love about it! I hate it when, in yaoi and yuri manga, it's all about the fact that they're gay and that they have sex. In SDC, it's just about the fact that these are people who have connections to other people. And that's what I love, and that's what rocks.
