I think Ledger's Joker was terrifying. Especially when he stuck his head out of the police car window, and at first it was funny, but then it was slowed down and this sense of dread washed over you. Like, you knew he was crazy, and it was frightening.
I agree with you completely. I think that genius and madness go hand in hand, and that it's not possible to have one without the other. In order to be that intelligent, you've got have learned things that make you begin to question the nature of society and of what you've been taught to accept as fact. I think the Joker just fits in perfectly here.
I loved everything the Joker did. I related a lot to him, I sympathized with him, and I thought his view of the world was accurate in every way. Yes, he was crazy, but it was the kind of crazy that you have to admire. Whatever he does, he does for reasons beyond your understanding, and it all fits together in a way that ends up being horrifyingly beautiful.
OMG, he was so funny, I could hardly stand it. The Joker is truly a triple threat. :D
