kowaiyoukai: (TW Ianto doesn't approve)
First of lots of posts today!

Something hysterical: CLICK ON THIS FOR UBERLOLZ - ganked from [livejournal.com profile] rdallyn.

Something sucktastic: CLICK ON THIS FOR AMAZON FAIL. Speaking of which, does anyone know what's going on with homosexual books on Amazon? Is everything still fucked up?
kowaiyoukai: (Merlin arthur is so awesome)
So The Record's TV Times put Arthur and Merlin on the cover with a cute article about it! This was all to celebrate Merlin airing on American television for the first time yesterday! Yay! Woot! Go NBC for making awesomesauce decisions! It's on 8 PM EST on NBC. Anyway, the picture focuses on Merlin sort of smiling and Arthur is in the background, but they cut off half of his face, and the half you can see is his one eye looking at Merlin with a kind of WTF expression on his face. LOL, I totally thought Bradley was thinking "I'm the star! Me, me, me!" The best part of the article was the ending, whcih I shall now type out for all of your reading pleasure:

"It's great casting," Hurt says, "because Bradley is a bit like a prince, and as it goes on, you'll see that his relationship with Colin develops. It's very funny, very cute."

So that's squee-making. Plus, they named it one of Sunday's Best Bets. And LOL, right above that quote is this sentence: "That doesn't mean that there still isn't plenty of humor, with much of it coming from the teen-buddy escapades of Arthur and Merlin." LOL, yeah, okay, Kate O'Hare from Zap2it. Call it whatever you want, we all know it's pre-slash. \o/
kowaiyoukai: (Star Trek Kirk/Spock)
Title: We Reach Our Apogee Slowly: Othersides 1
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kowaiyoukai
Rating: R
Pairing: eventual like whoa Kirk/Spock (STFU), Spock/Uhura (blame JJ, not me)
Warning(s): Angst, meta, language, attempts at witty banter, overly-important tone, intentionally confusing parts, potentially OOC everybody
Spoilers: Star Trek XI (2009) (a.k.a. Star Trek XI, Star Trek 2009, Star Trek Reboot, New Trek, and can we please just pick one name for this fandom people?!)
Word Count: 6,099 (for this part)
Disclaimer: Star Trek belongs to Gene Roddenberry, mostly, but also a lot of other people/groups like Paramount, J.J. Abrams, and the various writers/directors. I'm not one of those people, sadly, because if I was I'd be filthy rich.
Beta Acknowledgment: None! I know there are errors, so please let me know if you see any! Thanks!
Summary: Every story has other sides.
A/N: So this is the first in a series of side stories I've got planned for Apogee. You can choose to read them or not. They're all from the other characters' perspectives, so Kirk and Spock don't appear as much in these, although they are discussed. There should be one Otherside after every five regular chapters, but that may change. This was written mainly because I kept getting comments on the side characters and I really wanted to show them more, but that takes away from the Kirk/Spock interaction and who wants that?! NOBODY. So this was the answer. Hope you like it! :D

EDIT: So I EPICFAIL and somehow managed to screw up the first paragraph in Scotty's second section. It's fixed now, though-an extra 50 words. *headdesk* I've also gone back and posted links to the next part at the end of each part, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] christycorr's obvious suggestion.

kowaiyoukai: (KH riku/sora overworked)
First, Star Trek. Okay, I've seen lots of recs for Home on FFN, so I went to the author Lanaea's page and HOLY FUCKING SHIT. HER FIC HAS 187,963 WORDS IN IT. I'm sorry, but how can ANYOBODY have a STXI fic with that many words? I stay up all night writing three to four times a week and my fic is only just over 60,000, which I think is pretty damn good considering the movie just came out a few weeks ago. Is it just me, or is this crazy?

LOL, now I'm thinking maybe I should go back to FFN to get more comments! OMG I AM SO JEALOUS OF ALL HER REVIEWS! I love getting lots of comments, and LJ's usually good about that. LOL I'm so bad, I shouldn't bitch at all, I'm only on part 5 after all. And the comments I am getting are COMPLETE AWESOMESAUCE! \o/

Also, I'm kind of incredibly hesitant about reading Star Trek fic. Even if it's really good. IDK, a lot of it doesn't really work for me, even if it's highly rec'd. *shrugs* I love great writing, but I worry sometimes. You know, will my characterization change b/c of something this author did? Will this affect my plot? Etc. But I think it probably won't. I've read lots of fics in other fandoms I write for and they didn't affect my writing. Meh, maybe when I'm done with the first major plot arc in Apogee I'll give it a go. If I've got some other fics done to. Plus, I saved what's available, it's not like it's going anywhere, right? :P

And about TDK, I just realized something epic. I DO NOT RELATE AT ALL TO BRUCE WAYNE. I mean it. I think this is why I have problems writing him. His actions make zero sense to me. I mean, the Joker I get. Completely. One hundred percent. No problem. But Batman is like the craziest character ever created, srsly. A billionaire who decides to dress up in black leather to look like a bat and fight crime? I mean, that's nuts. Lock him up and throw away the key nuts. At least the Joker makes sense. Batman is so crazy I don't know what to do when I'm writing him. *headdesk*

EDIT: My stupid profile page isn't doing what I want it to. Damn HTML code. *kicks*
kowaiyoukai: (FMA ed shocked)
So I have not eaten all day yet, and I've been up since... um... since... uh... okay I forget but it was sometime yesterday and I'm stuck at the library because my ride isn't here yet and I could walk home but I have a migraine and I might faint if I try it.

BUT IF I DO NOT EAT SOON I WILL GNAW ON MY OWN FINGERS, WHICH WOULD SERIOUSLY IMPEDE MY WRITING PROCESS.

I'd also like sleep, actually. Food and sleep. Sleep and food. Nao plz?
