My first ever fanmix has the distinction of being a crossover half-serious, half-crack mix to two of the most popular fandoms of all-time: Harry Potter and Disney. YES I DID DO THIS. Do not judge me until you've looked at it, all right? There is some kind of odd sense to be had here, I swear it! XD

Harry Potter and the Wish Upon a Star
I attempted to be as non-partisan as I could be when creating this mix, so hopefully every fan regardless of favorite characters and pairings can enjoy this. There are characters I wanted to include but couldn't, but hopefully everyone will find something they like in here. Each song available for individual download (since I figured most people already own some of these songs, if not all of them), or else download the entire fanmix using the link at the bottom! Enjoy! ♥
Oh, also the majority of these tracks are in WMA format, although a few are MP3's. All of them should work on all computers, though.

Harry:
1. "You'll Be In My Heart" - Tarzan
Come stop your crying, it'll be all right.
Just take my hand, hold it tight.
I will protect you from all around you.
I will be here, don't you cry.
For one so small, you seem so strong.
My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm.
This bond between us can't be broken.
I will be here, don't you cry.
Description: Lily (and James) to Harry when Harry is a baby, before Voldemort attacks.
Comments: I love the idea of Lily singing a lullaby to infant!Harry. It could also be James, but I really like the idea of Lily promising Harry that she'll protect him, and then of course doing so when Voldemort attacks.
2. "A Star is Born" - Hercules
Like a beacon in the cold, dark night,
A star is born,
Told ya everything will turn out right,
A star is born,
Just when everything was all at sea
the boy made history.
The bottom line,
he sure can shine!
Description: The wizarding world celebrating Harry's defeat of Voldemort when Harry was one year old.
Comments: I always thought the part at the end of the first chapter of SS was very powerful. The idea that an entire culture would celebrate a child winning a war they weren't able to--very moving. This songs fits, IMHO.
3. "Go the Distance" - Hercules
I have often dreamed of a far-off place
where a great warm welcome will be waiting for me.
Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face
and a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be.
Description: Harry growing up at the Dursleys.
Comments: Now, I don't actually think Harry imagined a place where he'd be welcomed. However, this worked so well that I couldn't resist, and it's kind of nice to believe that Harry daydreamed about another life while growing up with the Dursleys.
4. "Son of Man" - Tarzan
Oh, the power to be strong and the wisdom to be wise.
All these things will come to you in time.
On this journey that you're making,
there'll be answers that you seek.
And it's you who'll climb the mountain,
it's you who'll reach the peak.
...
Though there's no one there to guide you,
no one to take your hand.
But with faith and understanding,
you will journey from boy to man.
Description: Dumbledore talking to Harry during Harry's first year.
Comments: The only Dumbledore song in this mix, sadly. Still, I think Dumbledore does have this opinion of Harry from the get-go.
5. "Part of That World" - The Little Mermaid
Maybe he's right. Maybe there is something the matter with me.
I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad.
Look at this stuff. Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Description: Harry living at the Dursleys while he's at Hogwarts. He loves magic while the Dursleys are obviously against it.
Comments: LOL, this one was one of the songs I thought was stretching it a bit. But I like the idea of Harry cataloging all the wonderful things about the wizarding world and not knowing how the Dursleys could hate it.
6. "He Lives In You" - The Lion King
Have faith.
He lives in you. He lives in me.
He watches over everything we see.
Into the water, into the truth.
In your reflection, he lives in you.
Description: Sirius talking to Harry about being like James.
Comments: The overall tone and mood of this song left me wondering if it was a good fit, but I think the lyrics work out well. Sirius does think James lives in Harry, after all.
7. "I'll Make a Man Out of You" - Mulan
Let's get down to business to defeat the Huns.
Did they send me daughters when I asked for sons?
You're the saddest bunch I ever met but you can bet before we're through,
Mister, I'll make a man out of you.
Tranquil as a forest but on fire within.
Once you find your center, you are sure to win.
You're a spineless, pale, pathetic lot, and you haven't got a clue.
Somehow I'll make a man out of you.
Description: Harry training Dumbledore's army.
Comments: This is too funny. I love the idea of the members of the DA working so hard and Harry just shouting at them that they're not good enough. Also, imagining DA members talking in the middle part is good times.
8. "I'll Try" - Peter Pan 2: Return to Neverland
I am not a child now.
I can take care of myself.
I mustn't let them down now.
Mustn't let them see me cry.
I'm fine.
I'm fine.
Description: Harry after Dumbledore's death.
Comments: I could not have asked for a better song regarding Harry's emotional and mental state after Dumbledore's death and throughout DH.
Ron and Hermione:
9. "Belle" - Beauty and the Beast
Good morning! I've come to return the book I borrowed.
Finished already?
Oh, I couldn't put it down. Have you got anything new?
Ha ha! Not since yesterday.
That's all right. I'll borrow... this one!
That one? But you've read it twice!
Well, it's my favorite! Far off places, daring swordfights, magic spells, a prince in disguise--
Description: Hermione's love of books and odd behavior make her an outcast among the Gryffindors at first, until they eventually accept her.
Comments: I always thought the Gryffindors outright rejection of Hermione at the start was harsh--and typically Gryffindor, really. But the love of books shown here and the attitude of the people clicked. I also thought perhaps the world Hermione dreams of is the wizarding world, when she's still trapped in the muggle one.
10. "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" - The Lion King
I'm gonna be the mane event like no king was before.
I'm brushing up on looking down, I'm working on my roar!
Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing.
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Description: Ron wants to be rich and famous, but nobody takes him seriously.
Comments: Ron is jealous of Harry from the beginning, and this song was the only one I thought that showed this feeling adequately. Ron's a hard character to place in the Disney fandom.
11. "God Help The Outcasts" - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
I ask for nothing. I can get by.
But I know so many less lucky than I.
Please help my people, the poor and downtrod.
I thought we all were the children of God.
Description: SPEW and Hermione's quest to save the house elves.
Comments: LMFAO! Don't lie about how amusing this is.
12. "Beauty & the Beast" - Beauty & the Beast
Tale as old as time, true as it can be.
Barely even friends then somebody bends unexpectedly.
Just a little change, small to say the least.
Both a little scared, neither one prepared, Beauty and the Beast.
Ever just the same, ever a surprise,
ever as before, ever just as sure, as the sun will rise.
Tale as old as time, tune as old as song.
Bittersweet and strange, finding you can change, learning you were wrong.
Description: Hermione and Ron's love story.
Comments: There are two unintentionally humorous/off-color parts to this song: the first being that Ron's the Beast, the second is when Mrs. Potts tells Chip "Off to the cupboard with you now, love. It's past your bedtime" at the end--because of course my mind went to Harry in the cupboard, and there was simply disaster. Still, the lyrics of the song work for how I think Hermione and Ron's relationship progresses throughout the series.
Weasleys:
13. "Family" - James and the Giant Peach
Love is the sweetest thing.
Love never comes just when you think it will.
Love is the way we feel for you.
We're family, we're family, we're family,
all of us and you!
Description: The Weasleys welcome Harry into their family.
Comments: Oh, man, it took me way too long to find a good song for the Weasleys. But here it is. Rather perfect for them, too.
14. "Someday My Prince Will Come" - Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Once there was a princess and she fell in love.
Anyone could see that the prince was charming.
The only one for me.
There's nobody like him anywhere at all.
Description: Before Hogwarts, Ginny imagines Harry Potter as her Prince Charming.
Comment: I've always thought Ginny was too childish about imagining herself with Harry, especially at the start of the series. Harry's not a Prince Charming, but Ginny's too young to see that yet.
15. "Sally's Song" - The Nightmare Before Christmas
The worst is just around the bend.
And does he notice my feelings for him?
And will he see how much he means to me?
I think it's not to be.
What will become of my dear friend?
Where will his actions lead us then?
Description: Ginny after Harry breaks up with her at the end of HBP.
Comments: Ginny's worried because, not only did they just break up, but Harry's going off to fight Voldemort. Her concern for him and for how the wizarding world views him is evident here.
General:
16. "Alice in Wonderland" - Alice in Wonderland
How do you get to wonderland?
Over the hill or under land
or just behind the tree?
When clouds go rolling by,
they roll away and leave the sky.
Where is the land beyond the eye
that people cannot see?
Description: Introduction to Hogwarts and the wizarding world.
Comments: Another hard song to place. You'd think Disney would have more songs about going to a wondrous magical land, but apparently not. The lyrics work, though, so I can't complain.
17. "Be Our Guest" - Beauty & the Beast
We'll prepare and serve with flair a culinary cabaret.
You're alone and you're scared
but the banquet's all prepared.
No one's gloomy or complaining
while the flatware's entertaining!
Description: The house elves enjoy working in the Great Hall.
Comments: How did two house elf songs appear in this mix? Don't ask me. But this one is great because it also shows the wonder that Harry and first year students in general feel at entering Hogwarts.
18. "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" - Cinderella
Salagadoola mechichka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put 'em together and what have you got? Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.
Description: The students at Hogwarts learn spells, with occasionally good results.
Comments: I kept on imagining McGonagall singing this to her students. Also, I had no idea that was how bibbidi-bobbidi-boo was spelled. I've always thought it was bibbity-bobbity-boo. My life has altered dramatically.
19. "You Can Fly!" - Peter Pan
Now, think of the happiest things.
It's the same as having wings.
Look, you're rising off the floor.
Jiminy! Oh my! We can fly!
Description: Harry learns to fly and is allowed to play Quidditch.
Comments: I hate this song, but lots of people like it and it does work for Quidditch and Harry being a great flier. So I gave in.
20. "Just Around the Riverbend" - Pocahontas
What I love most about rivers is you can't step in the same river twice.
The water's always changing, always flowing.
But people I guess can't live like that, we all must pay a price.
To be safe we lose our chance of ever knowing.
What's around the river bend, waiting just around the river bend.
I look once more, just around the river bend.
Beyond the shore where the gulls fly free, don't know what for.
What I dream the day might send, just around the river bend.
Description: The Gryffindors.
Comments: The mixture of courage and curiosity combined with a thrill at facing danger and a desire to do the right thing all screamed Gryffindor to me.
21. "I'm Looking Out For Me" - Aladdin 2: The Return of Jafar
Okay! I'm little, been playin' tank and fiddle, and I don't get no respect.
I turn the other cheek but this busted beak is the only thanks that I get!
I never found a friend that I can trust. They promise caviar and leave me eatin' dust!
That's some reward for loyalty. From here on in, I'm lookin' out for me!
Description: The Slytherins.
Comments: I am so glad I found this song! I did NOT want to use a villain song for the Slytherins because I feel like that stereotype needs to be eradicated from the universe. But here's a song that deals with someone who is selfish, ambitious, cunning, and yet not actually evil. Perfect.
22. "Strangers Like Me" - Tarzan
Whatever you do, I'll do it too.
Show me everything and tell me how.
It all means something, and yet nothing to me.
I can see there's so much to learn.
It's all so close and yet so far.
I see myself as people see me.
I just know there's something bigger out there.
I wanna know! Can you show me?
Description: The Ravenclaws.
Comments: The desire to learn is obviously Ravenclaw, but I also liked the way the song describes romance. I can see Ravenclaws viewing romantic relationships in a similar manner.
23. "You've Got a Friend in Me" - Toy Story
You've got a friend in me.
Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am.
Bigger and stronger too, maybe.
But none of them will ever love you the way I do.
It's me and you, boy.
And as the years go by, our friendship will never die.
You're gonna see it's our destiny.
You've got a friend in me.
Description: The Hufflepuffs.
Comments: This was originally going to be a song for Harry and Ron's friendship, but in the end it was the perfect Hufflepuff theme song. The traits of loyalty and friendship are clear here.
Voldemort, Death Eaters, and Malfoys:
24. "Are You In Or Out?" - Aladdin 3: The King of Thieves
I remember a time when crime was sublime
There was plenty of loot in the lair.
We'd plunder and pillage and ransack a village
with nary a worry or care.
Then along came this king with his soft-hearted dream
but he ratted us out in the end.
So rally the troops, we were meant to regroup
and return to our roots once again.
Description: Voldemort to the Death Eaters.
Comments: I can see Voldemort gathering Death Eaters to him by complaining about Dumbledore and talking about the good old days when they were in power.
25. "Be Prepared" - The Lion King
I know that your powers of retention
are as wet as a warthog's backside.
But thick as you are, pay attention.
My words are a matter of pride.
It's clear from your vacant expressions
the lights are not all on upstairs.
But we're talking kings and succession.
Even you can't be caught unawares!
Description: Voldemort to the Death Eaters, specifically when they're plotting on killing DUmbledore and Harry.
Comments: I couldn't decide between "Are You In Or Out?" or "Be Prepared", so I included them both! Well, they both work really well for Voldemort.
26. "Cruella DeVille" - 101 Dalmations
Cruella DeVille, Cruella DeVille.
If she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will.
To see her is take a sudden chill.
Cruella, Cruella.
She's like a spider waiting for the kill.
Look out for Cruella DeVille.
Description: Bellatrix Lestrange.
Comments: I feel this is incredibly self-explanatory.
27. "Gaston" - Beauty & the Beast
Who does she think she is? That girl has tangled with the wrong man. No one says no to Gaston!
Darn right!
Dismissed, rejected, publicly humiliated. Why it's more than I can bear.
More beer?
What for? Nothing helps. I'm disgraced.
Who you? Never. Gaston, you've got to pull yourself together.
Description: Draco ranting about Harry rejecting his hand at the beginning of first year. Crabbe, Goyle, and the other Slytherins reassure him.
Comments: I've always loved how Draco overreacts to Harry's rejection--by becoming his rival for six years. This was amusing, especially if you really imagine eleven-year-old Draco singing about how manly he is and all the Slytherins agreeing.
28. "No Way Out" - Brother Bear
Everywhere I turn, I hurt someone
but there's nothing I can say to change the things I've done.
I'd do anything within my power.
I'd give everything I've got.
But the path I seek is hidden from me now.
Description: Draco during HBP.
Comments: I practically had to kill someone to get a copy of this song. But it's perfect for Draco's dilemma throughout HBP, and his continued change of heart during DH and beyond.
29. "Reflection" - Mulan
Look at me, I will never pass for a perfect bride or a perfect daughter.
Can it be I'm not meant to play this part?
Now I see that if I were truly to be myself
I would break my family's heart.
Description: Narcissa about not fitting in with the Blacks and Malfoys because she wants to protect her family more than caring about which side of the war she's on.
Comments: I've always thought Narcissa was the odd man out in her family, so to speak. Bellatrix completely accepts Voldemort, Andromeda completely rejects Voldemort, and all Narcissa wants to do is stay out of it. That conflict is one of the most interesting aspects of her character, IMHO.
Marauders and Snape:
30. "A Whole New World" - Aladdin
A whole new world, a dazzling place I never knew,
but when I'm way up here it's crystal clear
that now I'm in a whole new world with you.
Unbelievable sights, indescribable feeling,
Soaring, tumbling, free-wheeling,
through an endless diamond sky.
Description: James and Lily's love story.
Comments: I think this works if you keep in mind that Lily was introduced to the wizarding world as James was tryingand mostly failing to seduce her.
31. "He's a Tramp" - Lady & the Tramp
What a dog! What a dog!
He's a tramp. But they love him.
Breaks a new heart every day.
He's a tramp. They adore him.
And I only hope he'll stay that way.
Description: Sirius Black.
Comments: Just imagine your favorite romantic interest for Sirius singing this song and you'll be set for life. The barking dogs only add to the amazement.
32. "Out There" - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Out there, where they all live unaware
what I'd give, what I'd dare.
Just to live one day out there.
Out there among the millers and the weavers and their wives
through the roofs and gables I can see them.
Every day they shout and scold and go about their lives,
heedless of the gift it is to be them.
If I was in their skin, I'd treasure every instant.
Description: Remus Lupin about wanting to be normal and everyone rejecting him because he's a werewolf.
Comments: This was difficult because I don't think any one person works in the role of Frollo, but if you assume it's the general opinion of the wizarding world about werewolves it makes more sense. I definitely love the sense of Remus longing to belong but knowing he'll never be able to.
33. "Not One of Us" - The Lion King 2
Born in grief, raised in hate,
helpless to defy his fate.
Let him run, let him live,
but do not forget what we cannot forgive.
Description: Everyone rejects Peter Pettigrew after he is revealed to be the traitor.
Comments: The epic tone of judgment and betrayal was what convinced me this was the song to use for Wormtail.
34. "Poor Jack" - The Nightmare Before Christmas
What have I done? What have I done?
How could I be so blind?
All is lost. Where was I?
Spoiled all. Spoiled all.
...
But I never intended all this madness. Never!
And nobody really understood.
Well, how could they?
That all I ever wanted was to bring them something great!
Why does nothing ever turn out like it should?
Description: Severus Snape.
Comments: One of the only songs that works for Snape because it shows both sides of his complex personality.
35. "When She Loved Me" - Toy Story 2
When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful.
Every hour we spent together lives within my heart.
And when she was sad, I was there to dry her tears.
And when she was happy, so was I.
When she loved me.
...
So the years went by, I stayed the same but she began to drift away.
I was left alone.
Still, I waited for the day when she'd say I will always love you.
Lonely and forgotten, never thought she'd look my way.
Description: Snape about Lily.
Comments: I think Snape and Lily being friends is considered canon by most fans, and I love the idea of Snape loving Lily and eventually losing her--which is definitely canon.

Comments: I think this works if you keep in mind that Lily was introduced to the wizarding world as James was trying
