The second time I saw the movie it struck me the favoritism line might hint at a prior established relationship, but then I was like "bu-wha?" and so I kept thinking about it until it made sense to me. And yes, teacher!Spock gets lots of squeeing teen girls fantasizing about him, you know it's true. :D
OK, now I have figured out the body temp thingy you mentioned above. I'm editing part 1 to get it to say higher b/c *shockingly* ST canon makes no scientific sense. Most creatures who live in hot temps have lower body temps IRL, but in ST Vulcans live on a hot planet AND have hot body temps, which means they're probably sweltering all the time. *shrugs* I assumed lower body temp b/c of planet temp, but... whatever. GR, you fail at biology. :P
