As a long time Star Trek fan I admit I absolutely loved Star Trek XI. To see beloved characters come back alive and with the alternate universe giving them infinite possibilities for new adventures just made my heart sing.
But, the best part is being able to read wonderful fanfiction like yours. In fact before I started your story I read through many of your posts on the subject (and RPS of Pinto).
I admit I had several moments of meh over Spock and Uhura. Mainly because I would have liked to have had her be less "the girl" and more independent on her own. I never saw the TOS Spock and Kirk as lovers, but very dear friends. However, the new K/S had slash all over them, LOL!
One thing I loved right away about your story is the build up and the dialogue. The whole chair conversation is SO something the characters in any timeline would have done that it put me right into the story. I also enjoyed your insight into Captain Kirk's pure joy of being captain of the Enterprise. The small details of your story were so well done that, again, I "saw" your story in my mind!
I thought in light of some of your conversations further on in your journal (and me being "late to the game in finding you") that you might enjoy this Newsweek article on slash (in Newsweek for goodness sake!) http://www.newsweek.com/id/195963
Off to read more! (By the way, I hope you don't mind that I friended you.)
