RL sucks

Well, it does though! And it keeps me away from the internet for long periods of time. I do not appreciate that. AT ALL. I will eventually write a post about RL drama, but in the meantime, know that I am very angry at reality and have decided to smite it down with wrathful anger. And also slash.

I got a formspring account! It's here: http://formspring.me/kowaiyoukai. So hopefully that won't blow up in my face. I need to check twitter and facebook and myspace, but see, I just kind of don't care enough to do it. Meh. Whatever.

Re: fics! I'm working on them. WHAT?! Well, I am. I'm actually working on TOO many fics at the moment. Also vids. And a fanmix. I SUCK OKAY. I JUST SUCK. THAT'S ALL.

REQUEST! I'm looking for the McShep vid "Jolene". It was recced to me but I can't find a dl of it anywhere. Anybody know where I can get it? Pretty please with Sheppard on top? XD

RE: APOGEE. Okay, look. I've got a lot more written, but I've made an executive decision. I'm going to wait until I finish (or am very nearly finished with) the first part before I put it up. Then I can update frequently and there'll be less stress for everyone involved. So if you've got any good reasons why this is a bad idea, say them now. :P

I'm working on my original novel, too. I've decided a few things about it that will probably mean it's impossible to get published, but FUCK IT. It's my novel and I'll do what I please with it.

Also, I really think it stinks that we don't have more good subtexty gay couples. I mean really now. I think Due South spoiled me rotten. D:

I'm also looking for fic recs for good stories for FrayK, McShep, Hotson, and Spork! Feel free to send links or rec lists my way if you've got them readily available.

I'm off to catch the train to work. TTYL, flist!! ILU ALL!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

P.S. I meant it about the Apogee thing. If anybody has a better idea than posting it when it's all finished, let me know. Since it looks like posting it as it's written isn't doing so great. STUPID NOT HAVING THE INTERNET AT MY HOUSE. *headdesk*

RL does suck! I totally agree! Hope things calm down for you soon!

I can really relate to the whole internet fic thing. The stories I post online are often neglected, and I feel so bad about it. I really need to write it all out, or most of it out, first, too. I'm with you on that one, cause it takes me forever doing it chapter by chapter. Plus sometimes I change things and have to go back and fix them. >.>

As for your novel, seriously, just go with it. I've felt that way before, but write it and see what happens. Once it's out, you can decide what to do with it. And who knows, maybe there'll be a market for it eventually. What's your novel about, anyway?

I think it's just a matter of balancing RL with the really important stuff, like fandom. XD

Shit, I haven't updated some stories in YEARS. It's just I find that time passes quicker than I thought it did. I'm like, in the time it takes me to update some fics, I've got classes or work or what-have-you, and the fic gets pushed aside. It's a shitty system, truly.

The main thing that would stop my novel from getting published would be the gay characters. There IS an audience for that, but I'm not sure the people who read published gay lit are going to want to read sci-fi/fantasy stuff too. My series is urban fantasy--the real world but with demons, and only three people can see them. They're my three main characters.

How's your writing coming along?

Oh okay, I was going to ask because many of my stories have gay characters, so I've done a lot of research. There are actually numerous successful authors in all sorts of genres who regularly write with gay main characters. So that itself isn't a deal breaker. No worries! I thought you were going to say something about a kinky fetish or graphic sex every other page, and honestly, sometimes those aren't deal breakers either. XD haha...

There are a lot of people out there who would rather read normal stories with gay main characters that aren't just a porno or something. I think you've been in fandom too long. XD I like the idea of that story. If I saw a novel with that premise and gay characters, I'd buy it in an instant. Besides, check out things like Supernatural where the majority of the audience are fangirls slashing everyone left and right. People would love to see stuff like that. Come on, you and me, we have to make this the norm! (But seriously, it's a lot easier than you'd think. These days that won't be the thing to hold you down, but there are a million other things that will. Yay, crappy economy all around!)

My writing is doing pretty well, actually, but I haven't been working on my online fics so much. I can relate to a lot of time passing before you know it. I'm working on a newer project that I've been posting online, but the last time I updated any of my other fics was 2007. x__x I need to go back and rewrite all of them since my style has greatly improved and what not.

I'm currently working on several novels, and I'm trying to flesh out my NaNo for this year. I keep going back and forth on which ones I want to work with at the moment, though. I'm glad I have lots of ideas, I just wish I could focus on one project at a time, lol.

Good luck to both of us sticking with our stuff, right?

Well, when I gave some parts of this one novel series to my grad classes, they tended to be either really ignorant about the gay characters (one girl was confused about why a guy hit on both a guy and a girl in the same section), or else they thought I should, like, tone it down or warn for it or something. IDK.

It's not neccesarily that I've been in fandom too long--although that's TOTALLY TRUE--it's just that I think a lot of people have these really low expectations. Like, you know, if it's not a teen romance with vampires, who careS? That kind of thing.

I do think it's our job as awesome people to bring in a new era of writing. Like, if we don't do it, who will? But I also think making money is important, SADLY, and I'm very unconvinced that anything I write is going to make it well enough for me to live off of it. *le sigh*

I also think that getting published is next to impossible, so right now I'm just working on writing whatever comes to mind. Maybe once the economy gets better, I'll try to send stuff around. For right now, I think I just want to focus on finishing what I've got and then seeing where it takes me.

Good luck with your novels! Definitely let me know if you get anything published. XD
