The Naruto Fancode

Follow the instructions to create your own fancode--a string of numbers, letters, and symbols that tells everyone what you like! This idea was blatantly copied from The Geek Code, as well as The Harry Potter Fancode and The Supernatural Fancode.

Just pick the letters from each section, separating each segment with a space, and add on the options that work for you. You can post your finished fancode anywhere--signatures, LJ, forums, etc. Please link back here so that other fans can translate your code and create their own!

Example: (for a generic Sasuke fangirl) NAR UN+ HS US++# A++!f#! M++!T M>A! US+RL- C-# S++ F+/!x US/UN!aP|aK+aO/US- H++? N++!
Means: This is the Naruto fancode. I like Naruto. I have no opinion on Sakura. I love Sasuke, and I'm not happy when the story isn't focused on him. I watch the fansubbed episodes when they come out every week, and I love them and will debate them with anyone who asks. I watched some of the filler, which I seriously hated and refuse to accept it as canon. I read each manga scanlation when it comes out every week, and I love it and will talk about it. I prefer it post-timeskip. The manga pwns the anime, and I feel very strongly about this and will debate it hotly. I love Sasuke and hate Rock Lee. I haven't tried to convert anyone, and I avoid talking about Naruto IRL. I actively seek out spoilers. I read fanfic but don't write it and I prefer slash fic. I feel very strongly about this and will debate it hotly, and I also prefer smutfic. My OTP is Sasuke/Naruto, but I also love Pain/Konan. I hate Orochimaru/Sasuke. I love the fandom, but why can't we all just get along? I think Naruto is the best series ever, and I feel strongly about this and will debate it hotly.

Also, generally speaking, a ! means you love something (or have strong feelings for it), a # means you hate it, and a ? means you don't know what that section is referring to. So, for example, F/!x means that you feel strongly (or will argue that) slash is better, but F/x! means that you feel strongly (or will argue that) smut is better. F/!x! means that you feel strongly (or will argue that) both slash and smut are better than other kinds of fic. Please comment if there's any confusion--but generally, the ! is directly after what it is you feel strongly about. The same rules apply to all of the optional symbols. The + and - generally indicate your activity level (or else how much you like/hate a character/pairing) in various subjects, unless the explanation says otherwise.

Characters
Use the character's last and first initials. If the character is in Akatsuki, put "a" before their first initial. [Note: If a character can be written a few ways but is in or has been in Akatsuki, Akatsuki trumps everything else so use an "a" before their first initial.] If the character does not have a last name and is from another country, put the lower-case first initial of the country before their first initial--see the list below for the correct letter. If the character is a teacher/jounin, put a "s" after their initials (for sensei). If the character is a member of Hebi (Snake/Hawk/whatever), put a "h" before their first initial. If the character is a Hokage, put the number Kage they are, followed by a "k". If the character is a Kage from another country, write the lower-case first initial of the country, followed by the number kage they are and a lower-case "k".

Note: These letters were chosen based on not wanting to repeat any of them. If I've missed any countries, please comment to let me know! And please leave both the English and Japanese names for it, otherwise I won't know how to label it.

Examples: UN - Uzumaki Naruto, US - Uchiha Sasuke, HS - Haruno Sakura, IK - Inuzuka Kiba, UO - Uchiha Obito, HH - Hyuuga Hinata, nZ - Zabuza, UIs - Iruka-sensei, sK - Kankuro, aD - Deidara, hJ - Juugo, 4k - Yondaime.
Exceptions:
Hyuuga Hanabi - HHa
Hyuuga Hiashi - HHi
Hyuuga Hizashi - HHz
aKo - Konan
aKi - Kisame
sG - Sabaku no Gaara [He is technically a kage, and so could be written differently, but for simplicity's sake the code follows this version.]
kS - Shizune [She has no last name or other affiliation, so she gets a country in front of her name.]
aM - Madara [He can be written several ways, but this is the version the code uses.]
aO - Orochimaru [He can also be written several ways, but this is the version the code uses.]
RL - Rock Lee [His name is not written in the usual last name first style of Japanese names, so the code follows this.]
MGs - [His name is not written in the usual last name first style of Japanese names, so the code follows this.]
Please let me know if you notice any other characters have the same code, following the above rules. I'll write them in as exceptions as well.
Note: Click here or here for a list of the Naruto characters. Some characters have last names that are not well known, such as Yuhi Kurenai.

Once you have the character's code, put a + after your favorite character and a - after your least favorite character. Example: UN+MGs- means you love Naruto and hate Gai-sensei.

Conversions
C++ I try to convert everyone I meet. Even strangers.
C+ I've only converted family or friends.
C I've tried to convert people, but it hasn't worked.
C- I haven't tried.

Notes on the fancode: I created this because I love fancodes. This is in no way meant to offend anyone, and please don't take this too seriously. I included the first three sections (for Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke) because I've noticed that most fans have strong feelings for these three main characters and I thought that should be included in the code. If this bothers you, you can just leave it out or only mention what's relevant in your case. If there's anything you'd like to add, or any other changes you'd like to see, please comment and I'll make the adjustments as needed.

EDIT 1: As suggested by

tenshi_saito, I added in NAR at the beginning to signal that this is the Naruto fancode. I added an optional addition in the Manga section, M-S+, and a similar option in the anime section, A-S+. I also added, as an option for the anime openings and endings, the option to specifically state which openings/endings you like/hate. I've added a section for opinions on fandom, as well as a section for opinion on the series in general, and a section for anime vs. manga. Also, the manga section gained a M+++ and M--- and the anime section gained a A+++ and A--- (thanks to suggestions from

sp_kathrine, with slight changes to the other categories, so double-check those!

EDIT 2: If you'd like me to create a fancode for another series, please let me know! I'm interested in doing one for FMA, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy VII, and The Dark Knight--but I'm open for suggestions. ^_^*

EDIT 3: I added a few more options for the fanfiction section, thanks to a comment by

EDIT 4: I listed the initials to use for the countries, and I edited the characters names so that all teachers have last initial, first initial, then a small "s"--thanks to comments from

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

I have a couple of ideas for this:
How about beginning it with something like: "NAR", a code of letters that lets you know, this is the Naruto fancode. And if you make a second version, it can be NAR2 or NAR+.
And also, there should be something for "I read spoilers before each chapter but do not read the scanlations."
Also something like O1 (my favorite opening is the first) and E3,4 (my favorite endings are the third and fourth), for example.

Also, I think M>A and A<M should be placed not at the end but with the first M and A. Also, H should have multiple values, for example H++ (I am very friendly to others in the fandom) and H-- (I can't stand the fandom!) And I think there should be a section for overall opinions on the series, and how one feels about Naruto in comparison to other anime/manga.

Also, I have a question about Madara for the character section. Since he's pretty much all of the above, would we just put it an "a" in front of an "M" for Akatsuki? For example I have "UN+aM-".

Oh! Good thought. Um. Let's say he's a member of Akatsuki, b/c there's only a few of them, after all. So yes, aM means Madara. :D

As for the pairings, if you're saying sasunaru is your OTP, that goes US/UN! (Who's SN?) SN/UN+ and then aO/US- ... but altogether in one string like this:

There's also only two plus signs after the H for fandom. And after the N for Naruto. Besides that, it looks right to me! ^_^*

I watch the fillers because my love for Naruto knows no boundaries. Quite literally. And because I have no life and was utterly bored. And because, sometimes, they have the crackiest, yaoi-est scenes ever in them. Pretty much, I watch for the crack. lol.

Good point. I think for the sensei, it's probably best to use last names with "s", where they have them...

Also, what about characters (even major ones) that have no last names but don't have a title? The character I have in mind, in particular is, Shizune.

And one last thing -- I noted that we're taking the letters of villages from the English translations, which is good, except there is one glitch. Sound and Sand begin with the same letter; perhaps we should use "o" (oto) for Sound?
