Inception, Invisible Man, and Rumors of New Sherlock Holmes series?!

I AM SO THRILLED THAT FANDOM AND I AGREE ON INCEPTION. I was worried no one else would see Arthur/Eames, that I'd be sitting there alone going HOMG YAYZ while everyone else was talking Arthur/Dom or Arthur/Ariadne. THANK GOD I WAS WRONG.

I really must write down SOMETHING fic-related for Inception. The movie was just so fucking phenomenal, it truly was. I've only seen it once, but I really need to get my ass to the theatre again. In the meantime, I've collected enough Inception fics, icons, and fanmizes that I should be occupied for the next short while.

OH! And I've started watching Invisible Man. LET ME TELL YOU. PEOPLE. THE GAY. HOMG. THE GAY. I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW GAY INVISIBLE MAN IS. You all need to go and watch that like ASAP.

I NEED MOAR ICON SPACE LIEK NAO PLZ?!?! Playing Survivor with icons sucks. I hate it. What do I get rid of? *headdesk*

ALSO: What's this I hear about a new Sherlock Holmes BBC series? Who has info on this? Hm?!

The most important thing to know about the new Sherlock Holmes series is that it is VERY VERY ENTERTAINING. And dedicated to the books, despite modernisation. They have managed this well. Basically everyone must watch it.

Also, the sudden influx of Arthur/Eames brings me nothing but joy. The movie has only been out, what, a week?

If you're talking about I-Man, starring Vince Ventresca, OMFG, you are sooo right about THE GAY. I wrote a couple of I-Man novels and collaborated on some fanzines some years back when the show was still on (I will NEVER forgive Sci Fi channel for canceling it -- when it was their second top-rated show, after Farscape -- so they could buy SG-1 from Showtime after that network was ready to drop that series). I even have a couple of prints of some art Paul Ben Victor did (signed and numbered) of the show's characters.

Totally freaking awesome slashiness. :)

::wheels out most appropriate icon, even though it's not the right set of actors...::

I have to say first off that I have an irational dislike of Leonardo de Caprio and won't watch any of his films. (I also have the same relationship with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise). I probably miss out on some good films that way, but so be it ;).

As for Invisible Man, which version? I've caught various reruns of the David McCallum version years ago, but I can't remember whether the newer version made it over here. I've a feeling it did and that I watched it, but I have no actual memory of it!!! Not good, brain. Not good! Also, it's entirely possible I'm actually thinking of Jake 2.0! /fail

On to something I can tell you about. The BBC have indeed made a new Holmes series. It's called Sherlock and is three episodes, 90 minutes each. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes, Martin Freeman as Watson and Rupert Graves as Lestrade. I don't know if you are a fan of Doctor Who, but Sherlock was created and written by the guy in charge of DW, Steven Moffat, and one of the DW writers, Mark Gatis (who also plays a character in the seres- won't say who though, as it's a big part of ep one and I don't want to spoil it).

I was wary at first, because it's a modernisation. Holmes is all about the texting and there's not a gaslight or bank of fog to be seen. But beyond that, it's pretty close to what I remeber of the books.

The first episode was a lot of fun. The characters are well played, there's humour- even inappropriate Holmes-humour at gruesome crime scenes. Lestrade has a grudging respect for Sherlock. Watson meets Sherlock for the first time in this first episode, so he spends a lot of time being amusingly baffled, but intrigued. There's a running joke that everyone assumes Watson is Holmes' boyfriend :). It's easy to see why with the amusing scenes at the start, featuring oblivious!Holmes and a female morgue attendant *g*. There's definite fodder for slash. Hell, it's very nearly canon! *vbg*

All in all, I'm looking forward to next Sunday and highly recommend you get hold of it as soon as possible!

Laura.

Oh, I-Man. Back in middle school, it was all about the I-Man and the Big Wolf on Campus (don't judge me please). I loved I-Man SOOOOOOOOO much, and I was devastated when they canceled it! But damned if I didn't check Amazon every six months or so to see if it had come out on DVD. YEARS I waited...and waited... until finally last year sometime I think it was I finally found the pre-order listing! Jubilation!! It was then that I got my DVD set, re-watched my beloved middle school television show and came to the same conclusion you have--that show is slashier than all get-out. I mean REALLY. Fawkes and Hobbes bicker like old marrieds. And it made me like the show even MOOOOOOAR. <3 I-Man, and I'm pleased that you've come back to it after all these years! (FYI, Catavari episode scared the bejeezus out of me as well!)

Unfortunately, Syfy (or whateverthefuck) is notorious for canceling their best shows...I may have gotten over I-Man, because honestly it did start to drag a bit in those later episodes, but I STILL haven't forgiven them for The Dresden Files. No, really. I sent a drumstick to the network and everything; that show was freakin' amazing! Grr.

Also, /agree re: Inception and all related slashiness. I look forward to whatever awesome you inevitably cook up. ^_^!

::creepily stalks your lj::

I only know I-man through fandom osmosis, but whoo have I heard about the gay. And apparently the actors are like super-cuddly with each other in interviews and stuff too. I know Seah and Margie did a couple I-man vids here, but my all-time favorite I-man vid is by sisabet here. Happy new fandom!
