Lol, I don't like romance all that much, honestly. I like gay romance, but I don't like when the story falls to the romance and loses its plot. However, I love character interaction. I have a YA novel with a male main character and a side character whom he's really close to. And like I said, when my stories don't have romance, they're heavily slashy in different directions. I consider those to to be a canon couple, but they don't actually do anything that we can see in the story. In fact, they may not even fully realize what's going on between them. But personally, I like that stuff. Most of the time I prefer it to something being shoved in my face. (Though I like it more when eventually they do get together, but for the sake of this story, I can't see any actual relationships between any people fitting in. You can tell they love one another, though, either brotherly or more than that.)

Oh but thanks! I hope it does turn out to be a good story. ^^;;; It's been very hard to write, though, because I have it ALL plotted out yet I don't really feel much for the main character. He needs some sort of quirk to keep me focused on him. Everyone else is more interesting. >< I do that all the time with main characters. Ugh.

Yeah, a mix of romance is good. ^^ When I was younger and first getting into yaoi, I would ONLY read things with gay relationships in them. Like it had to have gay sex, or gay love, or I wouldn't even touch it. Het, especially, just pissed me off. Lol. I got over that as I got older, of course. So yay, it's good that you do that. ^^ I true to do it, too, though not necessarily all in the same story.

I guess my feeling on "subtext" is that sometimes that's what it is, and sometimes it's just up to interpretation. Like the movie 9 which I just saw... Film adaptation of the short movie. The character relationships are so endearing, and while I'm not going to slash together two genitalia-lacking dolls made out of burlap sacks, the way they touch and treat one another was very moving to me. So yeah, to each their own, I suppose. XD

And yes, you are so right. The internet is one of the biggest things that gets in the way of writing. I swear. Gonna try to get more writing done today. Good luck to you on that front!
