Wow lots of shit today

I have to remember that Riverside, Iowa is Kirk's hometown. Then I have to research it for the BB Apogee prequel. I'll need to get pictures and facts and events and all of that shit... *epic headdesk*

I also have to spend some time on dictionary.com today. This is sad for me b/c I'd really rather just know everything without having to look shit up. But it's for epic Pinto fic so... yay?

ALSO! Animated mood themes! I can't believe I've forgotten to pimp this here, but I'll do so now. [livejournal.com profile] wikked_angel_78 made an AWESOMESAUCE Arthur/Merlin/Bradley/Colin animated mood theme, which you should all download and love upon muchly. Go and do so now. Also, I'm wondering where to find a good animated Star Trek mood theme--TOS or XI, obviously. I'd prefer it to be Kirk/Spock only. Any ideas or recs, flist?

Also, I'd love to go to a Star Trek con now. *le sigh* One day I will have money and a car and the means to do things like this. This will be after I am a multi-millionaire published author, of course. XP

NEW LJ FEATURE!! Notes on people!! I think I will write things like "DO NOT FORGET TO AVOID THIS PERSON LIKE THE PLAGUE" and "IF YOU MEET IRL, HAVE SEX WITH THIS PERSON IMMEDIATELY". XD

Next time I come online, I must steal all the userpics these people have: [livejournal.com profile] eumelkeks, [livejournal.com profile] affectingly, and [livejournal.com profile] ladylothwen. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] eos_rose's too!! *WANTS NAO!!*

And finally, I've got so many fics in-progress it's actually kind of depressing. It's a good thing I've already decided I'll be writing original and fic for the foreseeable future. Choosing would be torture. D:

Oh, and it looks like Twitter's stopped posting to my LJ. LOVELY. FAIL, TWITTER, FAIL. D:

This ought to help your fic:

> if Riverside's got a serious hatred of...

Anything not calm. (I want you to imagine a calm baby Kirk here. Nope, you can't do it. Neither can I.)

Seriously, the inhabitants live in Riverside because they want a quiet, non-fuss existence. They hate Trekfest even though it happens only once a year and brings in lots of money because 1) lots of cars park on the streets all through the neighborhoods-- they have to, there are no sidewalks and no parking lots-- and 2) (get ready) the people who visit _walk on the lawns_.

They do. Bold as brass. They walk on the lawns (remember, there are no sidewalks) and they drop trash and they are a NUISANCE! A NUISANCE, I say! With all their walking and parking and stuff. (I was there; this was the calmest, most polite convention crowd I'd ever seen.) Still, according to my bro-in-law, most of the natives try to be out of Riverside when Trekfest happens because they can't handle the strain.

Hope you find this helpful.

LOL, thanks so much for all that HYSTERICAL info! ♥ I read it aloud to [livejournal.com profile] siriuslyyellow & [livejournal.com profile] jelost and we all were cracking up. :P

And that's actually incredibly useful and perfect for what I was going to do with Kirk's childhood anyway. It all makes this wondrous kind of sense to me. I love it when everything comes together marvelously by beautiful, fortuitous accident. \o/

I will definitely bother you if anything else comes up. Thanks again for all of your awesomesauce help! *gives cookies*

Fantastic! I'm so glad it was useful. Just throw in a few grain elevators and you're all set.

Looking forward to your next installment!

LMFAO, OMG I honestly do not even know what a grain elevator IS. Clearly I have a lot of learning to do about Iowa. :P

Oh, and I just put 9 up tonight! \o/

Not home Mon and Tues night, I'll catch up with your fic when I can. Looking forward to it!

I'll try to send a pic of a grain elevator; they have one in Riverside, right downtown. It's a big honking silver thing that... sort of looks like a miniature version of the Riverside shipyards in the movie. Except it has corn in it. I took a pic and will post it for you Weds when I'm home. Cheers!

I just added a pic of a grain elevator to my second Riverside entry here:

In case you want to view one in all its magnificence. They're really big!

I looked through your entry and it's great! You look like you're having a blast. *is very jealous* Clearly, I will have to hitchhike to Iowa to get to a Trek convention at some point. XP

I've started working a bit more on the prequel, but so far nothing's come up. I'm prepared to bug you for your expertise if/when a problem arises, though. :)

Thanks! No hurries and no worries. I'll be around when it pops up on the stack. :)
